Kardemir and workers sign collective agreement

Turkish steel producer Kardemir has announced that the company and Ozcelik Union have reached an agreement regarding terms of employment for 2019 and 2020.

Negotiations on wages and side benefits have ended with mutual agreement.

The new collective agreement provisions are:

·         A raise of 13.19 percent for the first six months of the 2019-20 period,

·         A raise equivalent to Turkey’s consumer price index (CPI) for the second six months,

·         A raise equivalent to Turkey’s CPI for the third six months,

·         A raise equivalent to Turkey’s CPI + one percentage point for the fourth six months

with respect to hourly wages. As for compensation, a raise of 18 percent for the first year and a raise equivalent to Turkey’s CPI + one percentage point for the second year were determined.
