Major Indian steelmaker JSW Steel (JSW) has announced its financial and operational results for the third quarter ended December 31 of the financial year 2017-18, posting a net profit of INR 11.26 billion ($175.10 million), compared to a net profit of INR 8.19 billion in the corresponding period of the previous financial year. In the given period, JSW's sales revenues increased by 12.2 percent to INR 164.53 billion ($2.55 billion), compared to the same quarter of the previous year.
During the December quarter last year, JSW Steel produced 4.11 million mt of crude steel, up seven percent year on year, while achieving finished steel sales of 3.97 million mt, rising by nine percent year on year.
In the given quarter, JSW Steel focused on increasing its export sales volume, which rose by 24 percent year on year, especially for long products and it also remained focused on enriching its product mix and the overall sales of value-added and special products, which grew by eight percent year on year.
