Indian steelmaker JSW Steel is seeking to acquire UK-based Stemcor's iron ore mine and iron ore processing facilities in India, according to media reports.

Reuters quoted a JSW spokesman saying that the Indian steelmaker's "strategy is to increase its backward integration in securing iron ore and coking coal to feed its steel plants in India". At least three other companies are reportedly interested in Stemcor's Indian iron ore assets.
