According to the Japan Iron & Steel Federation, Japan’s iron and steel export volumes fell 6.6 percent year-on-year in September to 3.17 mt million from 3.39 million mt in September 2016. Of the total exports, 2.01 million mt of carbon finished steel was exported in September 2017 compared to 2.06 million mt in September of the previous year.
Japan exported a total of 28.59 million mt or iron and steel in the January-September 2017 period in comparison to the 6.37 million mt that was imported in the same period. In the nine-month period, 18.34 million mt of carbon finished steel was exported.
The top 7 export destination of carbon finished steel comprise 94 percent of the total exported.
