Japan's HR steel strip shipments up 7.07 percent in 2015

In 2015, Japan's hot rolled plate and sheet shipments decreased by 3.66 percent compared to previous year, amounting to 10.12 million metric tons. 73.79 percent of shipments were made to the domestic market, while the remaining 26.21 percent were made to the export markets, according to the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF) data. 
 
Last year, Japan's hot rolled plate and sheet production totaled 10 million mt, declining by 4.81 percent year on year.
 
Meanwhile, in 2015 Japan's hot rolled strip shipments amounted to 18.63 million mt, up 7.07 percent on year-on-year basis. 24.48 percent of shipments were made to the domestic market, while the remaining 75.52 percent were made to the export markets. 
 
In the given year, Japan's hot rolled strip production amounted to 18.56 million mt, rising by 5.96 percent compared to 2014.
