Japan’s automobile output drops again in March

Japan's automobile production in March this year was recorded at 404,039  units, according to the data provided by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA). The figure represents a drop of 541,181 units or 57.3 percent compared to the same month of 2010. March was the sixth consecutive month for which a decrease on year-on-year basis was recorded.

Domestic sales in March stood at 437,599 vehicles, down 35.1 percent as compared with the same month of the previous year.
 
Meanwhile, the country's automobile exports in March were recorded as 312,478 units. Compared with the 422,802 unit total recorded for the same month of the previous year, this is a decrease of 110,324 units or 26.1 percent. In March, exports decreased on year-on-year basis after fourteen straight months of year-on-year increases.
