ISG and US Steel to increase tinplate prices

International Steel Group (ISG) and US Steel will reportedly increase transaction prices of tinplates by an average of 21% in January in the form of increasing price lists and surcharges. The increase in tinplate prices will be approximately $155 per ton. Moreover, ISG and US Steel plan to adjust tinplate prices by charging based on actual product width, not theoretical width. Both producers expect tinplate demand to be strong in 2005.
