In November this year, iron ore shipments from Australia's Port Hedland remained almost unchanged compared to October with just a slight month-on-month decrease of 0.3 percent. The port's iron ore shipments in November totaled 21.7 million metric tons, up by 10 percent year on year.
According to the information released by Port Hedland Port Authority, iron ore shipments made from Port Hedland to China amounted to 16.17 million metric tons in November, decreasing by 8.3 percent compared to October and up 10.35 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. Japan was the second largest export destination for iron ore shipments from Port Hedland in November, with shipments totaling 2.5 million metric tons, rising by 6.3 percent year on year and up 79.5 percent compared to the previous month. Meanwhile, iron ore shipments made from Port Hedland to South Korea amounted to 2.4 million metric tons in November, increasing by 21.9 percent compared to October this year and up 20.5 percent year on year.
Port Hedland handles production from mines owned by BHP Billiton, Atlas Iron and Fortescue Metals Group in the iron ore-rich Pilbara region of Western Australia.
