Iran’s crude steel output up eight percent in Q1 Iranian year

Iran's crude steel output in the first three months of the current Iranian year (March 21-June 19, 2009) presents an increase of eight percent compared with the corresponding period of last year, according to IMIDRO (Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization).

Iran produced 2,804,604 mt of crude steel in the first three months of the current Iranian year according to the same source. Iran currently has a capacity of 17 million mt per year of crude steel but will still require a few years to reach this nominal capacity.
