Ukrainian pipe producer Interpipe Corporation (Interpipe) has announced that it is continuing the construction of its new electric steelmaking plant, which will be capable of producing 1.32 million mt of round billets and blooms per annum. Currently, construction work at the building site is 72 percent complete.
Accordingly, the new plant's continuous casters No. 1 and No. 2, its ferroalloy warehouse, and gas-cleaning and chemical water treatment sets are nearing full installation and completion. The construction of the 330 kW cable line has been completed and tests have been successfully performed. Work on setting up the 330/35.10 kW Pechnaya substation and cells of the Pridneprovskaya thermal power station continue.
Interpipe said that the cold tests at the new plant are planned to start at the end of 2011.
As SteelOrbis previously reported, the construction of the plant started in 2007, with all necessary equipment being supplied by Italian plantmaking company Danieli.
