Indian government-run steel producer, Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) has floated a global tender seeking suppliers for 1.5 million mt of low silica SMS (steel smelting shop) grade limestone, company sources said on Thursday, August 24.

The sources said that last date of submission of bids has been set for September 13, 2023.

The company intended to procure the material from maximum of two suppliers with each parcel of minimum 75,000 mt.

RINL has stipulated that deliveries will need to be competed within one year of award of the supply contract but the buyer reserved the right to delay the delivery period by 3 months without being liable for any additional financial implication, the sources said.

Eligible bidders will either have to be owning limestone mines of the required grade or suppliers backed by letters of authority from limestone mining agencies.
