India’s much delayed auto-scrapping policy has been submitted to the country’s cabinet of ministers for final approval, a government official said on Thursday, February 20.
The official said that the final version of the auto-scrapping policy has been cleared by the federal Ministry of Road Transport and placed before the cabinet of ministers. Official notification will be issued once approval is received.
The official said that various duplications and versions resulting from inter-ministerial initiatives had been removed and one consolidated policy had been finalized before seeking approval at cabinet level.
Differing initiatives from the Ministry for Road Transport framing the vehicle scrapping policy and from the Ministry of Steel framing steel scrap policy and setting up scrappage centers and Automated Vehicle Scrappage Facilities have now been combined into a single policy.
