India’s Goa state asks Karnataka to allow iron ore transportation

India's Goa state government has asked Karnataka government to lift the ban on iron ore transportation to save six sponge iron and pig iron units in Goa from going out of business due to shortage of high grade iron ore. Goa's Secretary of Industry T M Balakrishnan asked his Karnataka counterpart to lift the ban that has been in force as of June 15 this year.

As SteelOrbis previously reported, six industrial units in Goa have been hit by the latest order of the government of the Indian state of Karnataka banning transportation of iron ore out of the state.

It is underlined that Goa also transports steelmaking raw material to Karnataka and the ban on raw material transportation will impact Karnataka itself, as well.
