India’s GDP records 7.8 percent growth in Q1 FY 2023-24

Indian recorded a gross domestic product (GDP) growth of 7.8 percent in the first quarter (April-June) of the fiscal year 2023-24, against 6.1 percent in the fourth quarter (January-March) of fiscal year 2022-23, according to government data released on Friday, September 1.

The government statement said that GDP growth during the first quarter was the highest over the four previous quarters.

However, growth in the manufacturing sector decelerated to 4.7 percent in the first quarter of the current fiscal year, compared to 6.1 percent in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year.
