India's Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a charge sheet against senior officials of India-based steelmaker JSW Steel in a case related to illegal iron ore mining in the southern Indian state of Karnataka, according to media reports.

In a company statement on Tuesday, October 16, JSW Steel said that the company has not been served with any charge sheet yet and declined to comment. "The conclusions drawn by the said authorities leading to the charge sheet are without basis." the statement read.

As SteelOrbis previously reported, in May 2012 India's Supreme Court ordered a federal probe against JSW Steel regarding the alleged involvement of the company in illegal iron ore mining in Karnataka.
