Indian coking coal freight traffic handled by all major ports in the country during the first quarter (April-June) of the financial year 2018-19 was recorded at 13.03 million mt, up 6.85 percent over the corresponding period of the previous year, according to data of the Indian Ports Association (IPA).
The highest coking coal freight volume was handled by the twin port systems of Kolkata, and Haldia under Kolkata Port Trust at 4.1 million mt in the April-June period of 2018-19, up from 2.76 million mt of first quarter of the previous fiscal year.
According to the IPA data, total iron ore freight traffic, both iron ore fines and pellets, was recorded at 11.26 million mt in the first quarter of 2018-19, down 11 percent year on year.
