India launches safeguard probe on stainless CR flat imports

The World Trade Organization (WTO) has announced that it was notified by India on October 20 that it has launched a safeguard probe on 400 series stainless steel cold rolled (CR) flat product imports.

According to the WTO, the investigation has been initiated following the examination of the safeguard petition of the domestic industry alleging serious injury and threat thereof caused by increased import of the product in question into India.

All interested parties may make their views known within a period of 30 days from the date of the notice issued on September 19, 2014 by India's Directorate General of Safeguards.

The products in question currently fall under the Customs Tariff Statistics Position Numbers 72193112, 72193111, 72193210, 72193310, 72193410, 72193510, 72202021 and 72209021.
