The Indian government has extended the antidumping (AD) duty on flat base steel wheels imported from China for a period of five years effective from September 11, an official notification issued by the department of revenue said on Tuesday, September 12.

The AD rate has been fixed at $613/mt on all imports from China, the notification said.

It said that the AD levy was based on findings by the Directorate General of Trade Remedies which established that;

  • the subject goods are likely to enter the Indian market at dumped prices, if the antidumping duties in force cease to operate
  • the evidence of export prices indicates that the Chinese exporters are exporting the goods to third countries at significant dumped and injurious prices;
  • the Indian industry does not gain any undue advantage from the extension of existing duties

There is healthy competition in the Indian market and the continuation of the duties would not deprive the user industry of any requirement.
