India declines US offer to impose quota instead of duty on steel

India has declined the offer of a quota instead of a 25 percent duty on steel imports from Donald Trump administration, during trade negotiations between two nations, according to media reports.

The offer suggested limiting India’s exports to the US at 70 percent of its total exports to the country last year. India argues that steel exports to the US account for a very small part of US total steel imports and therefore no quantitative quota should be imposed on Indian steel exports.
