The Northeast Bureau of Coalfield Geology based in Liaoning Province, China has announced its discovery of a huge coal mine located in the county of Changtu in the north of the province.
Based on a preliminary estimation, the new mine has total reserves of over 1 billion mt of coal, distributed at depths between 1,200 m and 1,500 m. The coal reserves consist of approximately 70 percent prime quality long flame coal and 30 percent gas coal.
The leader of the bureau's exploration team said that, as their exploration work proceeds, the estimation for the coal reserve volume may be revised upwards.
