In April this year, heavy truck sales in China are estimated to total 80,000 units, up 83 percent year on year, the second-lowest level in the past seven years, while down 31 percent month on month, according to the data issued by cvworld.cn, a Chinese auto industry information service provider.
Heavy truck sales in China are expected to total 321,000 units in the first four months this year, up 17 percent year on year.
The year-on-year rise in heavy truck sales in April in China was due to the low base in the same period last year, while the easing of Covid-19 measures exerted a positive impact on heavy truck sales.
The demand for heavy truck sales may slacken in May amid sluggish fixed asset investment in the real estate industry and relatively high inventory levels. It is expected that heavy truck sales will total 60,000-65,000 units in May, which may decline by 20 percent month on month.
