Great Britain’s construction output down 2.7 percent in October

The construction industry output volume in Great Britain in October this year fell by 2.5 percent compared to September and was down 2.7 percent compared to the same month last year, according to a report released by the UK-based Office for National Statistics (ONS). In particular, in October new house buildings fell by 3.4 percent, and repair and maintenance work fell by 1.1 percent, both year on year.

In October, the total value of construction output in Great Britain was £10.43 million ($16.28 million), with a decrease of two percent compared to the previous month this year and down slightly by 0.2 percent on year-on-year basis.

Meanwhile, in the third quarter of 2011, the seasonally adjusted volume of construction output in Great Britain increased 0.2 percent compared to the same quarter last year and was up 0.3 percent compared to the previous quarter this year. According to the ONS, the increase is due to additional data returned by businesses, the receipt of new deflator information and the impact of seasonal adjustment.
