International commodities producer and trader Glencore has announced a stable vanadium output from its South African mine for 2019 despite negative results registered in the fourth quarter. Last year, the Switzerland-headquartered company produced 9,162 mt of vanadium pentoxide, although in the October-December period the output was 1,995 mt, down 21.4 percent quarter on quarter.
On April 30 this year, Glencore’s offtake agreement with Largo Resources will expire. According to the agreement, Glencore has been responsible for sales and distribution of vanadium produced by Largo Resource’s Maracas Menchen Mine in Brazil during the last five years.
Meanwhile, in late September last year, Glencore signed a long-term agreement with US-based AMG Advanced Metallurgical Group. The latter will supply Glencore with 100 percent of its available ferrovanadium production from its existing and future assets in Ohio.
