In January this year Germany's crude steel output amounted to 3.4 million metric tons, decreasing 10 percent from the previous month and down 8.5 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the information provided by the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl (WV Stahl).
As SteelOrbis previously reported, in the whole of 2011, Germany's crude steel production reached 44.3 million metric tons, rising by one percent as compared to 2010.
On the other hand, in 2011 Germany's total hot rolled steel product output amounted to 37.93 million metric tons, increasing three percent year on year, including 25.2 million metric tons of flat steel products - up 1.1 percent year on year, and 12.74 million metric tons of long steel products - up 6.9 percent year on year.
