In the second quarter of the current year, France's gross domestic product (GDP) remained stable quarter on quarter, according to the detailed statistics released by France's National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE). In the first quarter of this year, French GDP had increased by 0.7 percent on quarter-on-quarter basis.
During the second quarter, in France household consumption expenditure increased by 0.1 percent quarter on quarter, after increasing 0.9 percent quarter on quarter in the first quarter of the year. Meanwhile, in the second quarter, France's import value increased by 0.6 percent quarter on quarter, after a 2.2 percent quarter-on-quarter increase in the previous quarter, while French exports increased in value by 1.7 percent quarter on quarter in the second quarter, after a 1.3 percent quarter-on-quarter increase in the previous quarter.
In France, production of manufactured goods in the second quarter decreased by 0.7 percent, mainly due to a 9.6 percent output decrease in coke and refined petroleum due to the shutdown of some refineries. Construction output in France declined further by 1.1 percent in the second quarter of this year, after a 0.8 percent fall recorded in the previous quarter, both quarter on quarter.
