OECD annual inflation rate falls to 0.8 percent in July

The annual inflation rate of the 34 Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) member countries decreased marginally to 0.8 percent in July this year, compared to 0.9 percent in the previous month, according to the latest figures. 
 
The inflation in food prices increased slightly to 0.1 percent in July from 0.0 percent in the previous month, while energy prices fell by 7.8 percent compared to June.
 
Compared with the same month of 2015, annual inflation decreased 1.3 percent in July in Canada, following the year-on-year rate of 1.5 percent recorded in June. In July, in France and Japan annual inflation was stable at 0.2 percent and -0.4 percent, respectively, compared to June. In Germany annual inflation increased to 0.4 percent compared to 0.3 percent recorded in June, while annual inflation in Italy rose to -0.1 percent up from -0.4 percent recorded in the previous month and annual inflation in the UK grew to 0.6 percent from 0.5 percent recorded in June.
