French crude steel output up 9.3 percent in February

According to the latest data regarding crude steel production in France released by the French Steel Federation (FFA), in February this year French crude steel production amounted to 1,300,400 metric tons, up by 9.3 percent year on year and down 4.2 percent month on month.

In February, steel production in France using electric arc furnaces (EAF) rose 20.2 percent year on year, amounting to 531,250 mt, while steel production with blast furnace (BF) technology totaled 769,150 mt, increasing by 2.8 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, in the first two months of the current year, France's crude steel production amounted to 2,668,550 mt, increasing 10.6 percent compared to the same period last year. In the given period, steel production in France using electric arc furnaces (EAF) rose 17.5 percent year on year, reaching 1,076,500 mt, while steel production with blast furnace (BF) technology totaled 1,592,050 mt, declining by 6.4 percent year on year.

The FFA also noted that domestic crude steel production in February this year was still 18.5 percent below the January 2008 production figure.
