Former ASW plant starts production, others are on hold

The Al-Ittifaq company that has bought ASW's Sheerness plant had announced that it would restart steel production at the plant by the second week of March. SteelOrbis understands the company is going to use the production for supplying its own mill in Saudi Arabia. On the other hand, the management of Spanish company CELSA has not been able to make a final decision on how to proceed with the Cardiff plant (formerly owned by ASW) that they have bought recently. CELSA has reportedly paid GBP 24 million for that plant and the Sheerness rolling mill and new continuous casting facility. SteelOrbis understands the management is evaluating the market prospects and will decide later on how to proceed.
