Ferrous metal transshipments at Russian seaports up 1.5 percent in Jan-Aug

According to the data issued by Russia's Association of Sea Commercial Ports, in the first eight months of the current year freight traffic passing through the ports of Russia increased by eight percent year on year to 350.63 million mt. During the period in question, the export cargo handled at ports amounted to 272.5 million mt - up 8.1 percent compared to January-August 2009. 

Meanwhile, in January-August 2010, the transshipment of coal through Russia's ports increased by 4.6 percent to 45.14 million mt, while transshipment of ferrous metals went up by 1.5 percent to 18.91 million mt, both compared to the same period last year.
