Swiss-headquartered resources company Ferrexpo, whose main interests are in Ukrainian iron ore assets, has announced that in the first quarter of the current year its overall iron ore pellet production decreased by 8.7 percent quarter on quarter to 2.62 million mt.

In the first quarter, Ferrexpo's pellet production from its own raw materials decreased by 5.6 percent compared to the previous quarter, amounting to 2.61 million mt, while its pellet production from third party concentrate stood at 11,590 mt, falling 89.1 percent compared to the fourth quarter of last year.

Ferrexpo stated that the lower production reflected scheduled pellet line maintenance in January and February as well as a 55-day pellet line refurbishment which commenced on March 20.
