Ferrexpo sees iron ore output and sales increase in H1

Swiss-headquartered miner Ferrexpo, whose main interests are in Ukrainian iron ore assets, has announced its production results for the first half of the current year. The company is said to be operating with minimal impact from Covid-19.

Accordingly, in the January-June period this year, the company’s output of pellets increased by 4.6 percent year on year to 5.597 million mt. In particular, the company’s output of pellets from iron ore with 65 percent Fe content totaled 5.499 million mt, up 7.1 percent, while its output of pellets from iron ore with 62 percent Fe content plunged by 54.4 percent year on year to 98,000 mt. In the second quarter alone, the company’s output of pellets amounted to 2.872 million mt, up 5.4 percent quarter on quarter, SteelOrbis has learned.

The sales volumes in the given period increased by 22 percent year on year to about 6.1 million mt, reflecting destocking, the company said.
