An explosion at US Steel’s Fairfield plant in Birmingham, Alabama mill on Sunday injured two and killed one employee. The plant’s own emergency units responded to the incident, and no outside agencies were called in to assist.

Authorities identified the injured as Leo Bridges and Mac Bedwell, both listed in critical condition in the Trauma Burn Intensive Care Unit at UAB Hospital. The Jefferson County Coroner's office confirmed Monday that Edward Lamar Bryant, 53, was killed in the accident.

US Steel headquarters in Pittsburgh issued a statement Monday that said an investigation into the incident was underway, but no further details were available.
