West-Siberian Steel Works (ZapSib), a subsidiary of the Russian steelmaker and iron ore producer Evraz Group (Evraz), plans to increase its output of A500SP high-strength reinforcement bar from the current 15,000 mt to more than 30,000 mt per month.
According to the company' statement, the use of high-strength A500SP rebar allows a 15-25 percent reduction in the metal component of reinforced concrete and, consequently, a significant cut in building costs. In addition, its price is the same as the price of A500S and A400 (A-III) class rebar; however, A500SP rebar, with high toughness and ductility at low temperatures, also has a special design which improves bonding between rods and concrete.
Currently, A500SP rebar is widely used in construction projects for the 2014 Sochi Olympics, in residential, commercial and office centers in Moscow and other regions, and was used in the construction of the Voronezh nuclear power station.
