Russian steelmaker and iron ore producer Evraz Group (Evraz) has started the planned repairs of lime kiln No. 2 at its steel producing subsidiary West-Siberian Steel Works (ZapSib).

Accordingly, the repairs, which include the replacement of the furnace's main parts and equipment, will be completed within 40 days, and will allow ZapSib not only to increase lime production by 10 percent to 150 mt per day, but also to significantly improve its quality.

In addition, the full replacement of the lime kiln's gas cleaning equipment will enable ZapSib to reduce emissions into the atmosphere.
