Russian mining and steel producing company Evraz Group has announced that it has launched the new blast furnace No. 7 at its Nizhny Tagil-based subsidiary Evraz NTMK. The new blast furnace has a design capacity of 2.5 million mt of pig iron per year.

Evraz stated that the new blast furnace of Evraz NTMK is the cleanest one in the Russian metallurgical industry. At pig iron release, emissions are trapped and impurities are removed in bag filters, which allow the minimizing of atmospheric pollution. In addition, using the latest technical solutions at blast furnace No.7 will ensure enhanced performance of the entire blast furnace process at the plant both in terms of increased production and reduction of costs. Meanwhile, the number and duration of interim repairs will be reduced and coke consumption will decrease.
