According to first estimates released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities, in November last year the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in the European Union member states (EU-28) increased by 1.1 percent compared to October and was up by 1.4 percent compared to the same month of 2018. In October, production in construction fell by 0.4 percent when compared to the previous month.
In the euro area, the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in November increased by 1.4 percent compared to the same month of 2018 and was up by 0.7 percent compared to the previous month. In October, production fell by 0.5 percent compared to September, according to the newly revised data.
Building construction in the EU-28 in November increased by 1.4 percent from October and rose by 1.7 percent compared to the same month of 2018, while civil engineering output in the region rose by 0.1 percent from October and increased by 0.5 percent year on year. In the euro area, building construction rose by 1.1 percent month on month and by 1.4 percent year on year, while civil engineering output in the region was up by 0.3 percent month on month and increased by 0.5 percent year on year.
As compared to November 2018, construction output in November 2019 increased by 24 percent in Romania, by 6.8 percent in Hungary and by 4.8 percent in Germany, while it decreased by 9.6 percent in Slovakia, by 8.4 percent in Slovenia, and by three percent in Spain.
As compared to October, construction output in November last year increased by 3.1 percent in Poland, by 2.6 percent in Germany and by 2.5 percent in France, while construction output decreased by 4.5 percent in Hungary, by 3.8 percent in Slovakia and 1.4 percent in Portugal.
