According to first estimates released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities, in June this year the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in the European Union member states (EU-28) increased by 0.6 percent compared to May and was up by 2.7 percent compared to the same month of 2017. In May, production increased by 1.2 percent compared to the previous month.
In the euro area, the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in June increased by 2.6 percent compared to the same month of 2017 and rose by 0.2 percent compared to the previous month of this year. In May, production increased by 0.3 percent compared to April, according to the newly revised data.
Building construction in the EU-28 in June increased by 0.3 percent month on month and was up 1.8 percent year on year, while civil engineering output in the region grew by 2.1 percent from May and rose by 6.2 percent year on year. In the euro area, building construction went up by 0.1 percent month on month and was up 2.1 percent year on year, while civil engineering output in the region advanced by 0.3 percent month on month and rose by 3.7 percent year on year.
As compared to June 2017, construction output in June this year increased by 28.3 percent in Hungary, by 24.2 percent in Poland, by 8.9 percent in the Czech Republic while it decreased by 2.9 percent in Bulgaria.
As compared to May, construction output in June this year increased by 7.2 percent in Hungary, by 4.5 percent in Slovakia and by 3.8 percent in France, while construction output decreased by five percent in Slovenia and by 3.2 percent in Germany.
