The European Commission (EC) has announced the definitive results of its antidumping (AD) investigation on the imports of certain iron, non-alloy or other alloy hot rolled steel from Egypt, Japan and Vietnam, and the termination of the investigation on imports thereof originating from India. The investigation covered the period between April 1, 2023, and March 31, 2024.
The investigation was initially launched in August 2024 upon the request of the European Steel Association (EUROFER), claiming that there was evidence of dumping and of resulting material injury that was sufficient to justify the initiation of the investigation. In April this year, the commission decided to impose provisional antidumping AD measures, except for India, in order to prevent further injury to the domestic industry caused by the dumped imports.
The definitive antidumping duties have been determined at 11.7 percent for Ezz Steel Company and all other Egyptian companies; 6.9 percent for Tokyo Steel, 29.8 percent for Daido Steel and JFE Steel, and 30.0 percent for Nippon Steel, and 12.1 percent for Formosa Ha Tinh Steel and all other Vietnamese companies.
Additionally, the European Commission stated that the conditions for retroactively collecting duties were not met.
