EU extends AD duty on tube or pipe-fittings imported from China

The European Commission (EC) decided to extend the antidumping duty order on tube or pipe-fittings, of iron and steel imported from China. Following an expiry review, the EC, on June 6, 2003, imposed antidumping duty of 58.6% on tube or pipe-fittings (other than cast fittings, flanges and threaded fittings) or iron or steel (not including stainless steel) imported from China. On June 23, 2005, the Defence Committee of the Steel Butt-Welding Fittings Industry of the European Union submitted a petition to the EC, claiming that antidumping measures imposed on imports of tube or pipe fittings from China is circumvented by means of the transshipment and incorrect declaration of origin via the Philippines. Upon this petition, on August 5, 2005, the EC initiated an investigation into the alleged circumvention of the antidumping measures imposed on imports of tube or pipe fittings from China by imports of same products consigned from the Philippines. The period of investigation is July 1, 2004 through June 30, 2005. As a result of this investigation, EU Commission has determined that the existing antidumping duties on tube or pipe-fitting of iron or steel imported from China, should be extended to the same product consigned from the Philippines, whether declared as originating in the Philippines or not.
