ESTAR’s ZMZ to restart operations on June 15, 2009

Zlatoust Metallurgical Works (ZMZ), a subsidiary of the Russian steel producer ESTAR Holding, plans to restart operations on June 15, 2009, after one and a half month of suspension.

Accordingly, ZMZ plans to recommission its electro-smelting shops, while the restart of its open hearth facilities, stopped in December 2008, hasn't been decided yet. Currently, ZMZ is preparing its units for the restart and is purchasing the required raw materials.

In June 2009, ZMZ plans to produce 4,300 mt of crude steel and 2,000 mt of rolled steel products, while its deliveries are planned to amount to 2,850 mt. In the future, ZMZ plans to increase its steel output to 10,000 mt per month.

ZMZ stopped its operations in the end of April 2009, as the crisis situation led to operating losses and, as a result to the increase of the plant's account payable.
