The Russian steel producer ESTAR Holding (ESTAR) has announced that its Volgograd region-based subsidiary Frolovo Electric Steel Melting Plant (Volga-Fest) plans in 2010 to increase its output to a record of 285,900 mt of square billets, equivalent to 106 percent of the contractual performance of its equipment.
According to the company's statement, Volga-Fest set its previous production record in 2008, when it produced 254,000 mt of square billets. However, in 2009 the plant's output decreased to 220,900 mt.
In January 2010, Volga-Fest increased its output of square billets by 94 percent year on year to 23,900 mt, while its deliveries to customers reached 25,600 mt - up 98 percent year on year.
Volga-Fest is specialized in the production and sale of continuous-cast steel billets of carbon steel grades for further re-rolling. The plant is equipped with an electric arc furnace with 50-mt capacity (EAF-50), a secondary steel treatment unit and with a continuous billet caster.
