ESTAR’s GMZ issues Jan output results, targets increases in Feb

Guryevsk Metallurgical Works (GMZ), a subsidiary of Russian steel producer ESTAR Holding (ESTAR), has announced that in January this year it produced 9,500 mt of crude steel in open hearth furnaces, keeping the output at the same level as in January 2009.

Meanwhile, in the first month of this year, GMZ increased its rolled steel products output  by three times to 15,800 mt compared to 5,200 mt in the same period last year, and upped its steel grinding balls production by 94 percent  to 6,000 mt compared to 3,100 mt produced in January 2009.

According to the company's statement, in February 2010, GMZ plans to increase its output of rolled products and steel grinding balls to 18,500 mt and 8,400 mt respectively, producing a total of 26,900 mt of commercial products - a result which has not yet been achieved by the plant.
