Guryevsk Metallurgical Works (GMZ), a subsidiary of Russian steel producer ESTAR Holding (ESTAR), has announced that it has mastered the production of hot rolled steel angle of 125 x 125 x 9 mm size, and has already manufactured the first 480 mt of this new product used in the construction industry. The plant is ready to produce up to 1,000 mt monthly of this type of angles, if it receives orders.
Currently, GMZ is carrying out an active policy to expand its product range, to develop new market segments, and to increase the competitiveness of its products. GMZ sees a growing demand for supply of steel grinding balls of 120 mm diameter, the production of which was started in November last year. In March this year, the demand for this type of products has increased to 1,100 mt, compared to just 400 mt shipped in December.
In addition, in late 2009 GMZ mastered the production of rolled products with a cutting length of 11.7 m, and in February 2010 it developed the production of hot rolled channel No. 16, which is widely used in the construction industry.
Currently, GMZ is carrying out preparatory works for the start of production of hot rolled angles of 90 x 90 x 9 mm size, the first trial batch of which is scheduled for April.
