DOC publishes preliminary results of AD review on SSSS imports

Upon the request of petitioners Allegheny Ludlum, AK Steel, North American Stainless, Local 3303 United Auto Workers, United Steelworkers of America, AFL-CIO/CLC, Butler Armco Independent, and Zanesville Armco Independent Organization, and respondents French Ugine and ALZ France S.A (U&A France), Mexican ThyssenKrupp Mexinox S.A de C.V, and Mexinox USA, Inc (collectively Mexinox), the US Department of Commerce (DOC), on August 30, 2004, initiated an antidumping administrative review on stainless steel sheet and strip imported from France, Germany and Mexico. The review covered the period July 1, 2003, through June 30, 2004. Imports from French producer U& A France, German producers ThyssenKrupp Nirosta GmbH, ThyssenKrupp VDM GmbH, and ThyssenKrupp Nirosta Prazisionsband GmbH (collectively TKN), and Mexican producer Mexinox were subject to the review. The DOC preliminarily determined that the imports from three countries were made at less than normal value. Accordingly, the following weighted-average dumping margins for the period July 1, 2003, through June 30, 2004, exist for the three countries:

Country/Producer Margin

France
U&A France....................................11.11%
Germany
TKN............................................8.10%
Mexico
ThyssenKrupp Mexinox S.A de C.V................3.01%
Interested parties are requested to comment on the preliminary results.
