Danieli to upgrade Evraz NTMK's railway workshop

Italian plantmaker Danieli has signed a contract with Russian steelmaker Evraz NTMK for the supply of technological equipment for the reconstruction of its railway workshop, Evraz NTMK announced. The contract value is €80 million and that the modernization of the plant should be completed in 2022. The production capacity will grow from 800,000 to 950,000 mt of rolled steel per year, with the rolling area that will reach 108 meters. The technical upgrade of the railway workshop will allow an expansion of the product range and the production of new types of rolled products. The product range will include U-type channels with widht of up to 600 mm, H beams of a height of 130-600 mm, rails according to European standards with lengths up to 25 m, and crane rails.

The technological equipment and the automatic control means will be produced by Danieli and installed under the supervision of international specialists.

Evraz NTMK managing director Alexey Kushnarev said that after the reconstruction, the mill will produce additional volumes of 280,000 mt of beams and 50,000 mt of U-type channels  and therefore will be able to meet the higher demand for these products in the construction market.
