Italy-based plantmaker Danieli, a world leader in the field of constructing metallurgical plants, has been awarded two contracts in Egypt, according to international media reports. The first contract, worth €50 million, pertains to the supply of a state-of-the-art smelting and rolling plant to be constructed in Beni Suef. Meanwhile the second contract, with a value of €20 million, concerns the revamping of an already existing steel plant based in Alexandria.

The Beni Suef-based steel mill will have an annual production capacity of 500,000 mt, mainly aimed at satisfying domestic market demand. With its state-of-the-art technology the whole process from smelting to rolling will last only two hours.
