Athens-based Greek steel pipe supplier Corinth Pipeworks has announced that it aims to become the first carbon neutral steel pipe manufacturer for the energy sector within the current year. The company stated that it has been taking important steps towards a low carbon future, supporting the targets of the Paris Agreement and the UN Sustainability Goals.

Within this framework, Corinth Pipeworks made an agreement with leading Greek power generation and supply company, Public Power Corporation (PPC), in order to meet all the electricity needs of its steel pipe manufacturing facility in Thisvi via renewable energy for the year 2019. Corinth stated that electricity accounts for 91 percent of the total energy consumption of the company. Besides, the company realized many projects to improve its energy efficiency in 2019. The company said that it is still working to reduce its energy consumption.
