The China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) has called several leading domestic steel mills together to discuss countermeasures against Thailand's AD investigation of ex-China hot rolled coils. Since the investigation conducted by Thailand's Department of Foreign Trade (DFT) will last for one year and has an extension term of six months, Chinese companies still have opportunities to export the product in question to Thailand before December 2011.
According to a statement released by Thailand's Ministry of Commerce, an antidumping investigation has been launched against hot rolled steel products from China upon the request of local companies in Thailand including Sahaviriya Steel Industries Public Co., Ltd., G Steel Public Company Limited, G J Steel Public Company Limited and Sahaviriya Plate Mill Co., Ltd. The four companies allege that increased imports from China have already damaged the local steel industry with a dumping margin at 30.91 percent. The HS codes for the products in question are 720810, 720825-27, 720836-40, 720851-54, 720890, 721113-14 and 721119.
