Sichuan Province-based Chinese steelmaker Chongqing Iron and Steel Group is expected to finish the first phase of its plant relocation from the Changshu district to the Changshou district by the end of this year. Both districts in question are located in the city of Chongqing.
After two years of work on construction and relocation, Chongqing Steel has already put its 4,100 mm wide plate mill into production. Once the first phase of the relocation is concluding, the plant in the Changshou district will have an annual production capacity of 6.5 million mt of high quality steels.
In addition, the company states it will target the development of high quality steels as a priority over the next two or three years. At the same time, it will also place greater emphasis on mining, environmental protection and logistics.
