According to the data issued by the Price Supervision Center of China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), in July this year coal prices declined slightly in the Chinese market. The average settlement price of steam coal at the major Chinese port of Qinhuangdao was RMB 689/mt ($102/mt) in July, down 0.24 percent compared with June.
In July, coal prices averaged at RMB 711/mt ($105/mt) in the main coal producing provinces in China, decreasing by 0.49 percent month on month. Specifically, the average price of steam coal stood at RMB 517/mt ($76/mt), 0.65 percent lower than in June; the average price of coking coal was RMB 971/mt ($143/mt), down 0.37 percent compared to June; while the average price of coke was RMB 1,535/mt ($227/mt), down 2.22 percent from the previous month.
